Frequently asked questions

Can I edit existing PDF text?

Cover & replace lets you click a horizontal text region and place new text over a colored cover. It approximates the original styling; it does not rewrite or reflow the original PDF text. The original content remains extractable. Whiteout is also visual covering, not secure redaction.

Are my PDFs or signatures uploaded?

This editor reads, renders, and exports files in your browser. PDFs, inserted images, and signatures are not uploaded or saved remotely. Session edits are held in memory and disappear when you close the editor.

Can I edit scanned PDFs?

You can add text, images, drawings, highlights, signatures, and shapes to scanned pages. Cover & replace needs an existing text layer; this editor does not run OCR.

Does editing reduce PDF quality?

Original page content is preserved. Latin text and shapes are added as native PDF operations, and images are embedded. Text outside the standard Latin font encoding uses a local image overlay to preserve its browser appearance and is not selectable PDF text.

Can I edit protected PDFs, forms, or existing images?

Encrypted and password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. You can insert new images, but cannot manipulate original embedded images or edit form fields in this workspace. Complex forms, existing digital signatures, and interactive PDF features are not guaranteed to survive page duplication or deletion.

What are the document limits?

Open a PDF up to 100 MB and 500 pages. Image uploads are limited to 20 MB and resized to a maximum 2,400 pixels per side for export. Large documents may need more memory, particularly on mobile devices.

Can I combine files or extract pages?

Use the separate Split & Merge PDF tool to combine multiple documents, split a PDF into single-page files, or extract selected page ranges.
