Online video conversion, on your device.
Give footage a compatible format, prepare a clip for the web, or save its soundtrack for your own project. Upload a local file you own or have permission to process. No account or media upload is needed.
Convert video to MP4
Turn MOV, WebM or another supported video into H.264 MP4 with AAC audio. This is a practical choice for sharing and playback across devices. Silent videos stay silent.
Convert video to WebM
Export VP8 video with Opus audio for modern websites and browsers. Choose a quality preset that suits your content; the converter maintains the source dimensions and aspect ratio.
Extract MP3 from video
Save the source audio track as MP3. Choose 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps depending on your size and quality needs. Audio-only uploads can also be converted to MP3.
Extract WAV audio
Create an uncompressed 16-bit stereo WAV at 44.1 kHz for editing workflows. WAV preserves the decoded audio without additional lossy compression, but cannot recover detail missing from the original recording.
How to convert a video
- Choose or drop one supported local video or audio file.
- Select Video or Audio, then MP4, WebM, MP3 or WAV.
- Choose video quality, or an MP3 audio bitrate.
- Convert. The first run downloads the converter; your file stays local.
- Preview if your browser supports it, then download the result.
Video quality explained
Original / Best uses the highest-quality preset. High is the everyday default. Medium and Small file apply progressively stronger compression. These options change encoding quality, not resolution. All presets re-encode the video; none is a lossless copy.
Frequently asked questions
What files can I convert?
Upload MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV, MPEG, MPG or M4V video, or MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG or FLAC audio. These are containers: codec support varies. Corrupted, encrypted and unsupported codecs cannot be converted. Files above 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels) are rejected.
What’s the difference between MP4 and WebM?
MP4 output uses H.264 video and AAC audio for broad playback compatibility. WebM uses VP8 video and Opus audio for modern web playback. Neither option requires you to choose a codec.
Can I extract MP3 audio from a video?
Yes. Choose Audio and MP3, then pick 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps. The default is 192 kbps. The audio track is extracted and transcoded; it is not an original-track download. A video without an audio track cannot be used for audio extraction.
What’s the difference between MP3 and WAV?
MP3 is compressed with some quality loss and produces smaller files. WAV output is uncompressed 16-bit stereo PCM at 44.1 kHz. Exporting a compressed source as WAV does not restore detail already lost in that source.
Does conversion reduce quality or upscale my video?
Videos are re-encoded. Original / Best favors quality, High is the default, Medium balances size and detail, and Small file applies stronger compression. Dimensions stay at the source size, with odd dimensions rounded down for codec compatibility. Videos are never upscaled. Output size depends on the content and can sometimes exceed the original.
Are my files uploaded to RMBG.PRO?
No. The converter loads a self-hosted FFmpeg engine and processes your file in a browser worker. The original and converted media stay on your device. Resetting the tool or leaving the page clears its file references. The server-based Your history area is for account transactions; local conversions are not added to it.
What are the limits, and does it work on mobile?
The input limit is 100 MB on desktop and 25 MB on mobile, with a 150 MB output limit. Conversion stops after 15 minutes. Current browsers with WebAssembly and Web Workers are required. Mobile devices can run out of memory below these limits. Smaller, shorter videos work best; desktop conversion is recommended for 4K. The single-thread engine can be substantially slower than desktop FFmpeg.
Can I cancel, and what if a preview won’t play?
Cancel conversion stops the worker and releases its conversion memory. Your selected file remains so you can retry. Preview support depends on your browser; downloading does not require preview playback. A file format that the browser cannot preview may still be readable by FFmpeg.
Can I download YouTube videos?
This converter processes local media files you own or are authorized to process. It does not download from YouTube or other streaming platforms and has no URL import feature.
Which converter engine is used?
This tool uses the single-threaded FFmpeg WASM core. It downloads only when a conversion starts. Third-party engine notices.
